games people play...

so, when i was a kid i used to do a lot more playing via imagination and fantasy than...well, most people i know. and when i wasn't busy circling the things i thought i needed in the target ad, or memorizing the jc penney catalog, a 'game' i liked to play was, we'll call it, make believe casting agent...yeah, pretty self-explanatory. I'd be reading a book, and next thing I knew, I had the entire list of characters matched up to the talents that i thought best embodied (usually, physically) them. for instance, my high school best friend and her boyfriend, were clearly julia roberts and john cusack, to me...i still do it, though now it tends to be in my head. still, i got to thinking about that last week, as some people popped into the news...for instance, doesn't balloon boy's dad look a little like a baldwin brother?








well i thought he did on larry king live, anyway.



the one that really got me thinking about all of this though was an image of David Goldman on CNN one day (yes, i grew up to be a part-time news junkie). i looked at him and thought,
I know who'll be playing Goldman in the biopic...

of course, then there are those times you look at the tv and think isn't that actor just a younger version of that other actor? like shannyn sossamon/winona ryder.

and who knows, you may have made these same comparisons on your own...

reminds me an awful lot of Tom Scavo on "Desperate Housewives" (Doug Savant).

of course the only ones anybody really cares about, will no doubt be the actors playing them, in the movie of their life...i, for one, would LOVE to be an Anne Hathaway.

unfortunately for me, i look more like a Ben Stiller...
